Short-Term Foster Care
Are you able to provide short-term placement for youth in need of immediate stability?
There’s a growing need for foster parents willing to provide support on a short-term basis. Without available homes, some young people experience unstable, non-traditional placements, including sleeping in offices, hotels, or even state parks.
You can change that.
If you’ve ever considered fostering but felt unsure about long-term commitments, this program offers a meaningful way to make an impact in a shorter timeframe—with the full support of our team.

Frequently Asked Questions
The cycle of homelessness often starts in foster care.
Many youth are labeled “hard-to-place,” meaning traditional foster homes are not readily available to meet their needs. As a result, some youth face non-traditional or unstable living situations.
This program changes that trajectory.
By offering short-term, supportive foster home placements, youth are given a safe and stable environment where their immediate needs can be addressed and their path forward can be thoughtfully planned.
Foster parents in this program typically provide a 30-day placement for a young person age 13 to 18 years old.
During this time, they help the youth:
- Reconnect with essential medical care and catch up on missed appointments
- Receive mental health support to promote stability and well-being
- Have their referral information updated to reflect current needs
- Be prepared and supported for a successful transition to their next placement
This is an opportunity to provide a safe space during a critical moment—offering consistent care, dignity, and a roadmap to long-term success.
Our team at Home of the Innocents provides the following benefits to foster parents:
- 24/7 on-call support
- Pre-placement meeting to gather information and meet referred youth
- Specialized training to give parents practical strategies for nurturing safety and promoting growth
- Weekly case management through a dedicated family consultant
