Pediatric Complex Care
Our Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center provides 24/7 long-term and respite care to children and young adults with complex medical needs.
Our compassionate team of doctors, nurses, therapists, and certified nursing aides works closely with families and caregivers to tailor care to each child. As the only center of our kind in the region, we are honored to create a home away from home for this special population.

Each child is engaged in a variety of specialized and adapted activities, individualized to their preferences. Activities include:

Families remain at the center of each child’s life and guide their plan of care. We encourage families to visit often and be involved in all aspects of their child’s life and treatment planning. Our on-site Family Inn is available for overnight stays to families who do not live locally.
Education is important to us. Our team works with families and Jefferson County Public Schools to identify an appropriate classroom environment and develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each child. On- and off-site schooling is available for children ages 3-21 years.
We provide respite services, allowing caregivers a much needed break to recharge while their child is in safe and skilled hands. We know that allowing others to care for your child can be a difficult decision. Children in our respite program receive around-the-clock care and enjoy activities with their peers.
Respite visits can be scheduled for up to 14 days at a time and as often as needed to meet each family’s needs. Short stays up to 90 days are also available.
