November Volunteer of the Month: Linda Guss

Emmory Shipley, Communications Coordinator

December 11, 2018

Volunteer of the Month is awarded to someone who goes above and beyond in their role at the Home, exemplifying the values of Home of the Innocents in all the work they do and time they give to the children and families we serve.

Linda Guss, Volunteer Tutor, was presented with the Volunteer of the Month Award for November. She has been tutoring residents of our Pregnant and Parenting Teen Program since September 2017. Linda is a retired teacher with a Masters in English, who is experienced working with distressed kids. Through her one-on-one teaching style, she ensures a comfortable environment for young women to learn.

To Linda, the most important part of tutoring is the second chances it provides students she teaches. By receiving better education, they are able to reach their life goals. She looks forward to the time she spends with them, “I wish there were even more girls here so I could watch them reach their full potential.” Linda is a wonderful asset to the Home, we appreciate the impact she has on young women on our campus!
