Meet the Open Arms team: Lauren Gray
Emmory Shipley, Communications Coordinator
Lauren Gray, MS, CCC, is a Speech Language Pathologist in our Open Arms Children’s Health clinic. Lauren was interested in joining the team because it would allow her to work full time in pediatrics. Most pediatric therapy centers don’t offer full time compensation, but she was determined to pursue the job she wanted!
To Lauren, the most enjoyable part of her position is working one-on-one with her patients. She knows the impact it has on the children’s development, and is proud to know she is making a difference in their lives. However, Lauren is aware her love for her job is also due to being surrounded by knowledgeable and caring team members.
Lauren received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky in 2012 and Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 2014. During graduate school, she completed fieldwork at Kosair Children’s Hospital, Norton Suburban Hospital, and Frazier Rehab. Since graduating, Lauren has treated speech and language disorders, cognitive deficits, auditory processing disorders, swallowing and feeding difficulties, and social/pragmatic skills. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive knowledge and experience working with clients with many diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, and developmental delays.
Lauren is licensed in both Kentucky and Indiana and is a member of the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has experience supervising graduate students, as well as clinical fellows. Lauren volunteers for the Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Louisville and is a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana program. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
