…because childhood lasts a lifetime

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Throughout the month, we invite you to help us raise awareness, educate children on their safety rights, and alert community members to resources available for strengthening families.

How can you help?

You can take part in Child Abuse Prevention Month by completing any of these actions:

  • Raise Awareness on Social Media
Each day, we’ll be posting helpful information on our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages. Be sure to follow our accounts and share our posts on your own pages.
  • Wear Blue Day
Blue is the color of child abuse prevention. Wear blue on Friday, April 5th, to show your support for children.
  • Create Your Own Ribbon or Pinwheel
Blue ribbons and pinwheels are both symbols of child abuse prevention. To show your support this month, you can pin a blue ribbon to your clothing or create a pinwheel using these instructions from Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (this is a fun activity for kids).
  • Self-Assessment Questionnaire
Are you prepared to help keep children safe? Take this self-assessment questionnaire, courtesy of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.
  • Take the ACEs Quiz
It’s important to recognize that you, too, were a child once. You grew up in your own environment with your own set of circumstances and experiences – not all of which were probably positive. Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur during childhood (from birth until age 18). These events can trigger toxic stress, which affects our development, our health, and our future. By acknowledging your own ACEs, you can work to stop the cycle and prevent your children from carrying them forward.
  • Donate
You can contribute directly to the Home’s mission of enriching the lives of children and families with hope, health, and happiness. Simply donate to the Home by using the form below. All donations are tax-deductible.
